How It All Began
Innovations and Creative Ideas
Our founder Friedhelm Selbach, born in the Bergisches Land town of Hückeswagen, was a passionate tinkerer from an early age – driven by the ambition to make technology not more complicated, but better. His enthusiasm for engineering and machinery showed itself early on – particularly in motocross, where he not only competed but also optimised engines, built and repaired motorcycles himself. In total, he built over 40 machines of his own.
After completing his training as a mechanical fitter and working for several years at Klingelnberg, Friedhelm Selbach continued developing practical solutions for everyday problems. One result was our legendary curry sausage slicer – improvised, tested and so successful that it soon went into series production. Manufacturing began in a shed, cellar and garage, and later moved to the current premises on Heisenbergstraße.
With the construction of the first production hall in Radevormwald, Germany in 1980, the company began to grow. Alongside cooling and bar technology, this was followed by the manufacture of beverage dispensing systems and the development of our hot beverage equipment for mulled wine, punch, cocoa and more.
In 2000, Friedhelm Selbach handed over management to his son Torsten Selbach, who continues to lead the company today – with the same commitment to quality, functionality and reliability. The next generation – Torsten Selbach's sons – is already preparing to take over responsibility.
